Sherzer Insurance, a local, independent agency, was founded in Daytona Beach in 1979 by Marvin Sherzer. What began as a small auto insurance agency eventually grew into several agencies in Georgia, Kentucky, Oklahoma, and California. After eventually selling the agencies, Mr. Sherzer retired back to the Daytona Beach area, where he sold his original location to Jim Allender in 2008.

Mr. Allender began his career in Charlotte County, FL, where he was trained at Insurance Depot, an independent agency, writing home, auto, and commercial liability. It was there that he formed many relationships with top companies in Florida.

Upon relocation to Daytona Beach to purchase Sherzer Insurance, Mr. Allender brought his expertise in homeowners and commercial liability, as well as his relationships with other A-rated national and Florida-based companies, in order to expand customer options in Volusia County.

In 2016 Mr. Allender partnered with his sister, April Allender, to open a branch of Sherzer in Southwest Florida in order to serve Lee, Charlotte, and Collier counties. With both the Daytona and Cape Coral area offices, we can serve our clients' needs on both the East and West Coasts of Florida. Sherzer is also an active member in the local Chamber of Commerce in both cities.
